Among the two types of radiation (non-ionizing and ionizing) the latter one is much more dangerous. First one is like the radiation inside the microwave oven and it can cause no damage even though it is very intense. Ionizing radiation, containing extreme X-rays, gamma rays, the alpha and beta particles, breaks chemical bonds to cause burns, cancers and death. The symptoms of ionizing radioactive effects are nausea, fatigue, vomiting, headache, loss of white blood cells, loss of hair and diarrhoea. These can be controlled if the victims' exposure to the radiation stops or victims are moved  away from the affected area.

But if the exposure is long and heavy i.e. when these decaying nuclei atoms atoms and released particles touches tissue, it could be fatal. Then the intestinal lining of human body will destroy, central nervous system will be damaged and deadly diarrhoea and dehydration occur. Eventually the sufferer  looses consciousness and dies.

The people who survives suffer deseases like leukemia, lung cancer, thyroid cancer, breast cancer, and cancers in other organs of the body.

We see such example in Hiroshima where 166,000 people died in the first four months and more other people people suffered long after the atomic bombing. Some other examples are the explosion in Three Mile Island near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA. and at Chernobyl,Soviet Union(Russia).

The Chernobyl nuclear explosion is similar to the Fukushima explosion. Though it is 10 times stronger than than Hiroshima explosion, it polluted  less populated countryside. Still today people are dying there totalling the number to 16,000.

So it is a matter of concern for the Japanese and the world people and We, the world's rational beings should unitedly address the situation wasting no more time.

Beginning of Anti-Nuclear Attack

In Baden-Wuerttemberg state, Grmany, Chancellor Angela Merkel's Conservative 

party has been defeated in regional elections after a long 60 years.Anti-nuclear 

sentiment has been mobilised there recently as a result of Japanese nuclear crisis

and as Ms Merkel gave a deaf year to it and did indirectly oppose it, people retaliated.

Though She abruptly shut down 7 out of 17 nuclear plants right after the disaster 

in Japan and put on ice plans to extend the use of atomic energy by 12 years from 

2022, voters and analysts described as a brainwash.

Many people oppose Merkel's policies on nuclear power and military action in Libya.

Meanwhile, protesters also opposed government's decision over 4 billion-euro 

Stuttgart 21 project  to move the city's station underground to cut journey times across

Europe. Polls show that , the Greens and Social Democrats (SPD) were set to win 

48.3 percent, eclipsing the Christian Democrats. Last month Merkel's 

conservatives were ousted in in a state election and lost control of North 

Rhine-Westphalia, Germany's most populous state.

This is the beginning of the end for Merkel's career and her future can be easily 

imagined.

Suddenly danger labels 10 millions times

• The latest news about the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is that Nuclear threat levels have been raised to a seven and its operator Tokyo Electric Power Co. is still working on a final plan to end the crisis. The nuclear threat level of seven is the highest since Chernobyl.

Damaged reactor no.2 has created another problem in Fukushima nuclear power plant. The water inside the reactor becomes a deadly trap as the radiation label there rises up to 100,00,000 times more than normal compelling the worker to leave the place. Moreover excessive radiation has been detected in the nearby sea water. Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) is held responsible for failure to warn timely about this abnormality. 

A senior official of Japan's Nuclear and Industrial Security says that the radioactive element will swept away by the sea stream and radiation will slowly go down. By this he means that it will be OK very soon and people can take seafood very soon. So it is not be safe for the people of the nearby countries to eat those foods. 

Yukya Amano, the director general of IAEA, warns that this nuclear crisis will last for weeks or months. That indicates that we are not going to having a good news soon.

Japanese food safe to take?

Japan has been in a fix about radiation crisis.

China, Russia, Australia, Canada and some other countries took decision to avoid importing Japanese food on March24,as radiation level has been detected above danger level.It has become a matter of concern not only for Japan but also the countries around Japan. Japan is already in great difficulty tackling the post tsunami rehabilitation crisis. It has become concern about it's food and water safety.

The damage to the Fukushima nuclear plant, radiation from the reactor, snowing after the explosion, cooling attempt by sea water, all contributed to this food and water predicament. 

In Vienna, three UN agencies in joint statement said "Food safety issues are an additional dimension of the emergency," and pledged that they are"committed to mobilising their knowledge and expertise" to help Japan.

International Atomic Energy association are sending their experts to help dealing with the situation.

Japanese engineers have already linked up an external electricity supply to all six reactors and are testing system components and equipment in an effort to soon restart the cooling and stabilise the reactors.

Nuclear radiation can be both extremely beneficial and
extremely dangerous. It just depends on how you use it.
